- Boot the computer with the Vista DVD
- Choose the "Repair my computer" option
- Choose the Operating system installation and "load drivers"
- Choose the drive that was compressed and deselect "compress this drive"
- Reboot

Bootmgr is compressed error
I foolishly compressed my harddrive and forgot the Bootmgr will not work on a compressed harddrive. So after completely compressing my C:\ my computer would not boot correctly. At boot up I received a "Bootmgr is compressed" error. In order to fix the problem I had to pull out my Vista DVD and I did the following:

How to Remove Unbuntu from a Dual Boot Vista System
So how do you restore your MBR for Windows Vista?
1. Put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
2. Press a key when you are prompted.
3. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard etc..., and then click Next.
4. Click Repair your computer.
5. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
6. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.
7. Type Bootrec.exe /FixMbr, and then press ENTER.
8. Reboot machine to verify Vista loading properly.
9. Reboot your machine with the Ubuntu CD and use the Ubuntu Partition Manager to remove the Ubuntu parition.
